Who operates Truck Driver English
Truck Driver English is operated by Amotion Artificial Intelligence Developing LLC, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this policy, "we" means this company.
Short version
Truck Driver English needs very little information about you. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
When you practise
- Your answers. When you answer by voice, your phone records the answer and sends the recording to our server. Our server sends the recording to ElevenLabs, a speech service. ElevenLabs turns the recording into text. We do not keep the recording. Our server deletes it as soon as the text comes back from ElevenLabs. ElevenLabs may keep a copy for a limited time, and its own privacy policy applies to that copy. Some browsers cannot record audio for us. In that case the browser turns your voice into text with its own speech service, not ElevenLabs. For example, Chrome uses Google and Safari uses Apple. We then receive only the text. You can also type your answers instead.
- Checking your answers. We send the question and your answer text to TypeSafe, an AI service that checks whether the answer is clear and complete. We then send the question, your answer text and TypeSafe's result to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI, which writes the feedback you see. If TypeSafe is not available, Anthropic also does the checking. We do not save your answers. If these services cannot be reached, we ask you to try again. Our error logs record only that a check failed, not what you said.
- Daily counts. We count how many answers we check each day, so that we can limit use. If you have a pass, we count per pass. If you use the free practice, we count per internet (IP) address. The counts reset every day.
- The officer's voice is a recording made with ElevenLabs, a voice service. Only the officer's questions were sent to make it.
- The coach's voice (the voice that tells you how to improve an answer) is also made with ElevenLabs. Most of what the coach says is fixed text that we wrote ourselves and recorded in advance. If you have a pass, the coach also reads aloud the better sentence it suggests for you. That sentence can include facts from your answer, such as a city or a company name. To make the audio, we send that sentence to ElevenLabs. We do not keep that sentence or the audio. ElevenLabs may keep a copy of the sentence and the audio for a limited time. Its own privacy policy says how it handles them.
When you buy
- Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
- Stripe, the payment service you pay through, tells us your email address and that you paid. We keep your email together with your backup code (the code shown on your screen right after you pay), so you can open your pass again on another phone.
Cookies
- tde_access: keeps your pass open on this phone for up to 30 days.
- tde_free: remembers that you used today's free practice stop. It stays on your phone for 2 days.
- PostHog (analytics): counts which pages are visited and which buttons are used, such as starting practice or buying. It stores an anonymous ID in your browser. We use it only to see whether the site works for drivers.
When you contact us
Your name, email and message are sent to our support inbox (Google Workspace). If sending fails, the message is kept on our server until we read it.
Other services that see some data
- Railway hosts the website and may keep basic request logs, which are technical records of the pages your phone asked for.
- Google Fonts provides the letters on the page, so your browser connects to Google.
- Stripe, TypeSafe, Anthropic, ElevenLabs and PostHog, as described above.
How long we keep it
We keep your email and backup code for as long as the Truck Driver English website exists. This lets you open your pass again while the pass is active. Your pass stays active for 30 days from the day you pay. It stops being active sooner if it is refunded. On a phone where your pass is already open, it stays open until the pass ends. To open it on another phone, you type your email on the "Already paid?" page. You can do that up to 2 times in 24 hours, and up to 6 times in total while the pass is active. The backup code has no limit on how many times you can use it to open the pass. If you want us to delete your email and backup code, ask us on the contact page and we will delete them.
